Job Description:Newmark seeks a talented professional with a deep interest in national retail trends from both the occupier and investor perspective to join its research team. The candidate will be a thought leader in the retail industry, conducting analysis, identifying new sources of data, and producing timely trend reports, quarterly market material, and market statistics. The candidate will represent the firm to the market through media interviews, at conferences and through direct client interaction. This position will support Newmark brokers and their clients, including top producers representing marquee global brands, major investors, and fast-growing retailers.Essential Job Duties:* Collaborate with top producers to determine an agenda for thought leadership* Produce thought leadership pieces and market leading quarterly house view reports* Support the production of customized research material for sales professionals and their clients upon request with a particular emphasis on strategic pursuits* Represent Newmark's thought leadership in media and industry events* Develop extensive relationships across Newmark and the industry and serve as a critical conduit for business intelligence* Design Newmark's retail data strategy in collaboration with brokers and local research leadership* Advise on Newmark's data vendor strategy with respect to retail * Other duties as assigned. Skills, Education and Experience:* Bachelor's degree in real estate, business, economics, or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred* 7+ years of relevant working experience* Deep knowledge of national retail markets, consumer economics and/or retailer strategy* Capital markets background a plus* Ability to analyze data and identify emerging trends* Strong analytical writing skills and the ability to develop industry reports* Experience with database management and comfort in learning new, proprietary databases* Effective communication skills and demonstrated success in client-facing roles* Ability to work as both an individual contributor as well as on cross-functional teams* Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in other MS Office programs* Experience with Placer.ai (or comparable data provider), Constar, Real Capital Analytics, ESRI, Property Shark, Economy, Trepp, Moody's Databuffet, Jobs EQ and REIS a plus* Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau a plus* Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environmentSalary: $150000 - $165000 annuallyThe expected base salary for this position ranges from $150000 to $165000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held.
