New Orleans Film Society 2024 NOFF Production Manager (Part-Time // Temporary) MISSION: The New Orleans Film Society is a 501(c) (3) arts non-profit organization whose mission is to discover, cultivate, and amplify diverse voices of filmmakers who tell the stories of our time. We produce the Oscar®-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival annually and invest year-round in building a vibrant film culture in the South to share transformative cinematic experiences with audiences, and connect dynamic filmmakers to career-advancing resources. POSITION OVERVIEW: The New Orleans Film Society is seeking an experienced event producer who can successfully run the festival production department and build a team of hard-working and committed individuals. You need to thrive in a fast-paced and live events environment and be prepared for any issues or obstacles that arise. You need to be able to make quick decisions and be flexible to adjust the plan as needed. The position will be responsible for setting up and breaking down all festival venues for film screenings, panels, industry events, parties, and receptions with a team of runners and production assistants. Timeline for the position: 3 months: August to October 2024 The schedule for this position is flexible as long as the festival deadlines are met. We estimate that this position will average around 10-20 hours/per week, with hours going up in weeks around the event itself. The Festival is scheduled for October 17-22. The Production Manager reports directly to the Managing Director and collaborates closely with the Operations Manager. Scope of Work: Builds a Production team that includes runners, cargo van drivers, production assistants, set-up crews, and inventory coordinator. Creates a system and workflow for other departments to make delivery set-up requests and maintain established procedures throughout the event. Plans and executes setups and breakdowns for all Festival events: film screenings, parties, and Filmmaker Conference. Asses AV, lighting, power, and gobo needs for the Festival and coordinates orders. Manages cargo fleet of 1-3 rented vehicles. Creates and executes production schedule for the Festival. Manages all Festival supplies and inventory and ensures all items are organized, inventoried, and dispatched. Creates tracking system for NOFS assets, donated and rented items flowing between venues. Manages all deliveries from vendors and sponsors to Festival storage and venues and ensures smooth pick-ups and returns of all items. Oversees Festival storage and ensures all inventory is organized at all times. Manages loss prevention and creates a system to avoid damages, thefts, and losses. Skills, Experience + Qualifications - Required: Alignment to the organization’s stated mission and values. Minimum 3 years of in-person live events or film production experience Excellent organization, planning, and productivity skills. High level of comfort handling pressure and understanding deadline-driven environments. Ability to work nights and weekends during scheduled festivals and events. Ability to stand and move for prolonged hours during events and lift, carry, and load items of up to 40 lbs. Posses a form of transportation to move easily and quickly between venues across New Orleans. Self-starter with strong initiative, drive, sense of urgency & ability to work with a high degree of autonomy. Have some technical knowledge of AV, sound, lighting, etc. Benefits & Compensation: This position is temporary and non-exempt, and the hourly compensation is $22 per hour . Temporary staff members are eligible to receive the following benefits: Paid sick time and holidays; Simple IRA with 3% employer-matched contribution Workers’ compensation insurance; The New Orleans Film Society reserves the right to change the listed benefits at any moment, with advance notification to employees. Location: New Orleans Film Society staff are working on a hybrid schedule, with a portion of the week in the office and a portion remotely. This position has the flexibility to work remotely but has to be on the ground during NOFF and any other pre-festival events/training/site visits or to organize storage.
