Machinist ABUSINESS: Industrial - Precision MeteringLOCATION: Monroe, NCDIRECT REPORTING: Manufacturing ManagerFUNCTIONAL REPORTING: ManufacturingPOSITION DETAILS - Machinist AOverview: The Machinist A Interacts with all manufacturing, engineering, and sales support departments as well as suppliers and customers as necessary. The employee will perform routine and repetitive work while maintaining a high standard of quality and quantity. Reports directly to the Precision Manufacturing Manager.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Work from engineering drawings and specifications to assemble precision parts. * Use gages and instrumentation for pass/fail inspection of ultra-precision tolerances. * Must be able to work independently and use good judgment. * Problem Solve in the following areas: Quality, Tooling, Productivity, * Throughput, Stackup issues at assembly, and Maintenance. * Must understand basic program structure and perform shop floor programs as required. * Operate and understand manual and automatic grinders, milling machines, lapping machines. * Support Lean Initiatives / Continuous Improvement. * Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate. * Inspect components of unit prior to assembly. Build and assemble pump according to specifications and drawings. Disassemble and inspect as required. * Critical thinking and troubleshooting ability a must. * Make necessary inspection checks and chart dimensions as required, to ensure accuracy of parts and report to customer for their efforts in improving process reliability. * Exhibit self direction and problem solving skills. When dealing with used parts, bolts are stripped and broken, parts seem impossible to remove, and assembly is difficult. Thinking out of the box is often required to get the job done. * During automatic cycle time operator is to perform miscellaneous operations such as preparing next piece for machine, simple deburring, or the operation of supplemental machines. * Utilize COS visual management board for scheduling and reporting. The use of computer software and hardware is required. * Use precision measuring instruments such as air mikes, micrometers, dial indicators, templates, feelers, gages of all types, form masters, scale, calipers, and electronic measuring equipment to maintain dimensions and tolerances as required. * Keep working area, machines and equipment in a clean, orderly condition. Safeguard working area as necessary. Wear all safety equipment that is necessary on the job. * The ability to use all machining equipment. Tools include all basic cutting tools, boring heads, parallels, vee blocks, hand tools, and other necessary equipment. Hoist-operated cranes and other lifting equipment. Torque wrenches, hand and power grinders, files and sanding disc. etc. * Work from verbal or written instructions, with or without job tag instructions; read and work from blue prints, charts sketches, process specifications and masters. Perform all duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs. Consistently produce work of proper quality and of proper required quantity. Job Requirements:CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS * Education and/or Experience: * High school diploma, GED or equivalent certificate required. Minimum one year prior machining experience. * Use of advanced trades mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
